I usually don’t watch much TV these days, but my husband was watching Oprah, and I overheard the announcement that she was having the world’s most talented kids perform on her show.
I appreciate the wonderful talents of others. Watching people in their element brings me much joy. Their talents touch my spirit, and I feel at one with them. It’s as if God is talking to me, telling me how awesome He is as a Creator. He’s letting me in on a special part of His Creation, the talents He’s bestowed on each of us to glorify Him.
Each of the kids featured were extremely talented. One of the musicians was Lang Lang, a concert pianist from China. I was fortunate enough to have attended one of his concerts last year. He is a tremendous talent and is giving back to society by nurturing and mentoring children who are gifted at playing the piano.
Then Oprah presented Charice Pempengco form the Philippines. She sang Note To God written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster. What a song! What a voice! The voice and song were perfectly matched. The song sounded as if it were written exclusively for Charice to sing even though it was recorded earlier by another artist.
I stood up from my comfortable couch as I watched and maneuvered myself closer to the TV. I couldn’t believe she was seventeen. Her voice was soulful, smooth, passionate as well as angelic. I started to sway with the singing. My skin started to tingle as her voice hit the high notes. I was reminded of the gospel music of The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
Her performance was emotionally charged to say the least. I wanted to clap. I wanted to shout, Hallelujah. I wanted to raise my hands in worship. I was moved to tears. The Oprah audience was waving their hands in the air just like in an old-time revival meeting, unashamedly on national TV. The audience was having church and I was worshiping along with them!
Charice’s performance of Note to God was so moving, I just had to share it with you.
Unfortunately, I will no longer be able to post Oprah’s Youtube segment of Charice’s performance of Note to God due to Harpo’s copyright claim.
Please go directly to Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4Xd435coD4 to see and experience Charice’s performance.
Isn’t she amazing!
God hears our prayers. Our loving God seeks a relationship with us, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:14,15
If you were to write a note to God, what would you say to Him?
Copyright 2009 by Nurturing Wisdom
If I wrote a note to God
I’d tell Him how grateful I am for this “little girl”…
A girl whose soul I can look into and find only goodness
Whose overflowing love can show all of us how to erase all hatred in this world
If I wrote a note to God, I’d tell him to teach me to pray
The way this “little girl” does
With so much faith in You
That I’d believe that no matter what bumps
Are ahead, and trials that I will encounter
All I”d need to do, is write a note to You
And I’d pray, I’d pray, I’d pray
Lord, teach me to cry, nor ever to ask why… only to believe
My strength will come from You as I lift both hands and worship
Every time I write… this note to You
Dear Henri_v,
Yes, it is essential that we spend time with God in prayer. It is from Him that we derive our strength, ”He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah.” 41:29-31
This barely turned 17 year old is AMAZING! She truly deserves to be where she is at now. If you have heard of her story, then you’ll know what I mean. She came from hardships and entered singing competitions JUST to put food on her family’s table (her mom, little brother, and her). Charice’s dad had tried to kill her mom one day so they left for good and Charice’s mom was now a single parent. Now with so many appearances she’s made internationally, she put that money to good use and bought her family a home and a car. To top that, she sponsored 5 children in the Philippines who weren’t lucky enough to be enrolled in school because in the Philippines, most elementary schools have to be paid in order to enroll in grade school. She has truly stayed humble despite all this fame and recognition she has achieved. Search her up and read all about her. I know you will find that she truly deserves all the success she has right now. Thank you for making a post about her. Note to God is truly an inspirational song and Charice has made it an unforgettable one.
Dear Cali,
Thank you for Charice’s background. She’s not only an amazing talent, but someone with a pure heart. She deserves all the success that’s coming her way. Let’s keep her and her family in our prayers.
its a pity, the video cannot be shared since Harpo inc took it.. but its a great blog!! very touching!!! thanks 🙂
Dear Taka,
Thank you for the kind words. I plan to purchase Charice’s song through i-tunes.
I saw that little girl in Oprah too! didnt expect to be floored like that and have goosebumps all over me and feeling the song…as if i was singing it myself, but no…its just my emotions which this little girl from the Philippines have moved. Excellent performance…amazing indeed 🙂
It so moved me, i bought the copy of the song in itunes and each time, it still gives me the goosebumps and am still feel moved. I hope the song reaches many hearts for we need to be reminded to pray…and pray from the heart.
Cheers to the little girl from the Philippines, Charice!
If i were to write a note to GOD, i would pray that this song by this little girl be heard by all and may they be touched and moved too.
Dear Javarush,
I agree with you. The rest of the world needs to hear this song-that we can go to God with our problems. He will answer us if we submit to Him.
I would write to God, Thank you Lord for sending one of your singing angel to us. A voice that truely unifies and heals the world through her music.
Dear BAF,
Yes, thank you Lord for such an angel. May many see God through her music, and may our lives and world be healed.
Definitely amazing! I felt the same as you, even though I watched it only in YouTube, goosebumps were all over. It touched me to the core. She is amazing!
Dear Justcharrie,
Every time I hear her again, I feel the same way. Just like you said, “to the core”.

Ambassador of Truth!
Phil 4:13- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
Dear Ambassador of Truth,
It’s always great to meet another believer! I enjoy blogging and sharing how wonderful God has been in my life. It hasn’t been easy, but the Lord has always worked things out for good, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of all those who love him…” Romans 8:28
Shes Pure Bliss!
Thanks for sharing.
Dear Laguy,
I’m glad to share such a talent.
I am impressed – no, TOUCHED – by Charice’s humility and her sincerity when she sings. Her smile could melt all of my concerns and stresses! When she finished the song, with a tear in her eye, I was crushed. It’s one thing to sing a song, but to sing that song with feeling, and to convey that feeling by her tearful smile to the world says it all! I have only been following Charice for the last couple of months, and in the last few months have seen her go from a 15 year old to a 16 year old, and now 17. I can hardly wait to see what a beautiful person (in spirit and physical appearance) she will grow to be. I just pray for her and feel so close to her like she was my granddaughter! I pray that years from now, she will still be giving people goosebumps and will be drawing people closer to God with her song and with her awesome attitude! I plan on watching her grow til the day I die!
Dear ADM,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful comments about Charice.
I feel the same way that you do about Charice. I, too will keep her in prayer-that she’ll continue to grow into a beautiful woman physically and spiritually and that the love of God will continue to flourish in her.
